Classic Sri Lanka Private Round Tour
The perfect first-time Sri Lanka journey — heritage, hill country, wildlife and beaches in one beautifully paced private tour.
South East
Yala National Park is Sri Lanka's most visited and most rewarding wildlife experience. Block 1 — the main safari zone — covers 141 square kilometres of dry scrub forest, open grasslands, fresh and saltwater lagoons, rocky outcrops and a wild coastline, all of which provide ideal habitat for a remarkable diversity of wildlife. The leopard population in Block 1 (approximately 30–40 individuals) represents the highest density of wild leopards recorded in any national park on earth. Safaris typically run in open 4WD jeeps with a tracker and guide — morning sessions (5:30–10:30 AM) are best for leopard sightings, while afternoon sessions (2:30–6:30 PM) bring out large elephant herds at the watering holes.
